Hey Seymour-dude, I am presently living wild in the back yard of a house where the "man" is trying to get to know me. He feeds me and gives me water and speaks kitty-talk from the window. If he comes outside, I run to the back of the garden but I am getting used to him and getting less scared. I kinda hurt my leg the other day and am not sure whether to go to this guy for help. Any advice you can offer about becoming a domestic would be gratefully received.

Dear Seymour, Did you know your namesake was a governor of New York in the 1800's and also ran against Abraham Lincoln for President? He was an uncle of my grandmother's. I am delighted to say you are much cuter than he ever was. Loved hearing your story. I also own a stray kitty and have found good homes for about a hundred others during the years. All the Best, Sheila

Hello, Seymour! I really enjoyed reading about how you found a good home! Look how beautiful your fur is now too! My youngest cat is named Seymour too, but he's a gray tabby and always looks confused. Best wishes!

Meow Seymour! Loved your story in the OD. Aren't we lucky? I was born in a barn but now I have the run of a whole house with my own room and my own bathroom! I adopted "MommyCat" when I was a kitten. She tells me she lived in Utica for many years and thinks you should be purrfectly proud to be named for a famous Utican. I'm named for Kansas City cuz I was born nearby! Sometimes I fib and say it's for the mighty baseball player because I love batting, catching, and retrieving balls. Somebody once called me a puppy, which made me hiss! MommyCat's helping me build my own website which will show my puss on a new line of greeting cards. I'm kinda embarrassed, but I like having my picture taken. Bet you do, too? If you wait a couple weeks, maybe we can rub noses at www.kacykards.com and get better acquainted. Meowy, Meowy Christmas! Licks & purrs, Kacy

Hi Seymour. We sat on our owner's lap while she read the article about you in the OD. Jake and I wanted to write you and tell you what a great story. We are old now but we were abandoned strays 15 years ago and she (our person) took us in. Boy, let me tell you she didn't know the first thing about cats. Seems she always had dogs. She wasn't too bright because she thought we did dog things. Boy did we have a lot to teach her. But she did okay and she has been real good to us. We have it made. As I said we are in the golden years of our feline life but we have everything you could ever ask for. She won't even buy a new couch cause Jake has his claws and she knows, what with the cat hair and hairballs, it just isn't the smart thing to do. Well, Seymour, so what is in a name anyways? Most of our "people" know we come when WE want to come. Nice talking to you. I will be in touch. Marm and Jake

Hey there Seymour!! At least you ended-up with a normal name; my owner (she thinks she's my mother) named me after some rock star she thinks I look like. You think you're heavy? I'm 18 lbs. of SOLID FELINE. Well, minus a few parts, like claws &...YOU know (never did find out what those were for...). I have long hair, too, which means every now & then if my mats get too out of hand in the summer, my owner takes me to get a "do", & I end-up looking like I have a Mohawk, like Mr. T. My "brother" died a couple years ago, too. Sure do miss him; he taught me all I know. But now, I am passing all that wisdom down to 2 kittens, one of which is deaf (he meows extremely loudly, waking me-up all of the time...sheesh!). My owner never could say no to an animal, as she served on the Stevens Swan board of directors several years ago, & is an old softie. Once she figures out how to use the scanner, she'll send you a pic of me (she's computer illiterate), as I am quite handsome. Ta' for now!---Zappa

Loved the story about Horatio Seymour in the Sunday OD. I am owned by three cats, two of which are little cast-aways that were thrown out of a car and into my driveway. Not so poor and little anymore however! Every cat deserves a warm bed,a soft pillow, lots of tuna and a person to boss around. There is nothing more appreciative than a cat that has been saved from certain doom out all alone in the world......even if they wo't admit it.

this EMail is for Seymour from Rahzay written by his human because his paws don't fit on the keys. so, here goes. Hi Seymour , just wanted to let you that my human read your story and we both loved it. they whole artical was so funny and so true. here is a little about myself , I am a large gray and white cat. if you have ever seen a picture of a gray and white cat laying on his back wearing a bandanna and with his eyes shut , well that is a picture of me. well sort of, that's how i look but it is not really me. I came to live with my human friends, pat and dick a couple of years ago. because my then owners and myself could not come to any agreement about whether or not i could have my freedom to go out side , you see i simply could not be a house cat. now I know that a lot of cats don't mind only looking at the outside world through the kitchen window but that was just not for me, and then there was that little problem of my mouth i just had to express my self and they just did not appreciate what i had to say. something about i never stopped talking. well anyway, they gave me to this lady who has a big house, did i mention i was liveing in a trailor, anyway this house has a cat door and a great big back yard, as soon as i got used to everyone i went outdoor and i could not believe my eyes. at that time i could not see very well, there was something wrong with the way i saw things, everything scared me silly, I also met the cat next door, max, it took a few months but by spring i was king of the hill, and come and go when ever i please. IT'S GREAT, I have been loking for a pen pal so if you would like to chat you can write me at patlangne@juno.com i don't have my own email address yet but i am working on it. by RAHZY

I loved the story of Horatio Seymour--I envy your ability to take such nice cat photographs! My cats are not very cooperative when I get out my camera! (I learned of your website from a former boss who forwarded me pictures from the funeral of her good friend's husband who was a fireman in Utica, NY.
